Akindynos Pair

Just thought I'd share a pic of my akindynos pair. The female (lower left of the pic) has blue stripes, the male has white. I've had them for about a month and they're doing great. They've shown some spawning behavior but nothing serious yet.

Nice.

My male often will display white when she is displaying blue. I think a far amount of that with my male anyway is stress, and she a very rough with him. He also shows his blue, when they are both happy.

Very nice pair. It's amazing how loud my male is when he 'chatters' back at the female. Plus, I think my female is close to laying (or has, and I can't see the eggs) as her ovipositor has been down for about a day now. It would be cool, then I'd be 2 for 2 with AU species.

Thanks!

I can hear my male chatter too. Luckily she's not too rough on the male, although she will chase him in circles at times.

Thanks. I got them from a LFS. They're still doing well but haven't spawned. The male cleans rock every day but the female just doesn't seem interested. A small male ephippium (fire clown) hosts in the same anemone and that may be a distraction, but they don't put a lot of effort into chasing him away.

Mine look almost like them in color but there parents are lighter in color. They might change color as they grow bigger and I am talking 5" fish and not like 2" babies I have.

Hey how are the clowns doing? Do you still have the H.mag and the carpet?

Hey Nick.

The clowns are doing fine. The magnifica didn't make it. You may remember that it was sick when I got it and I almost flushed it one day. It slowly came around and was doing fine, but when I lost my other giganteas to bad silversides the mag went downhill also. I now have the large crispa I've had for a year and the yellow gigantea that I got last December.

How's your magnifica doing?

Frankie, I don't know how old they are but I don't think they're "young".

My H.mag pulled though...it was touch and go for awhile...was pretty sure I'd lost it there for a few days. Did the Doxixyxlene dip and it started looking better almost immediately.

I'd like to get another one so as to have two in the 120...but I've having trouble finding a healthy purple or red based one...

Sorry to hear yours didnt make it....
How long have you had the gigantea?

Nick
