Over-Flow help...

Well I got my tank and learned that he bottom of the tank is tempered glass so the making my own overflow thing is out the window. Now I need other ideas . Do I use the old fashioned U tube over flow ? Or is there a way to drill the back pane of glass and make an over flow that way ? Help .

Ps . Does anyone have one of those old U tube over flows laying around I can by. Thanks Jim

You can drill the back of the tank and make an over-flow. Look in the DIY forum for several different ideas on how to do it.

Many people drill the back then make an over-flow box that spreads from end to end of the tank to provide adequate surface skimming.



Ok the search engine is overloaded... big shocker.

Many people take a single sheet, size will be up to you, of glass and put it at an angle in the tank running from end to end siliconed in on the length and sides. The piece of glass will need to have the teeth made to make surface skimming doable. You can also go with a smaller size and make your own box siliconed inside the tank with teeth.

i thought thats what you going to do in the first place? thats what i was intending on doing i would never drilled the bottom of the tank

the back of my tank is drilled. Gotta love Rod. He drilled the back and then made a little overflow box.
