RO unit placement

is placement of an RO unit critical? can they be located below the resivoir? do they have enough pressure to make it upwards a few feet? I am trying to figure out where to put the RO unit in my stand design

No and for it to be below the water reservoir a high pressure pump is needed (cost big bucks though $$$) but if you can leave it over the water reservoir it is recommended and will have less strain on it.

I agree, I have mine about a foot higher mounted on the wall above my water 75 gallon water vat. Level with or above works great.

Mine is 20" from my reservoir and uh 3"below,I have 60PSI on the RO if this helps.

It really depends on how far below and how far away it is. A long uphill run will add head pressure to an RO/DI and may reduce its output. A few feet should be insignificant.

Pressure at the input to the R/O unit is what your looking for. It could be 60 feet away as long as it still have enough pressure to force the water through the membrane. Mike/KD9RG

It does not matter where it is mounted as long as it is protected from the elements. You don't want to expose it to extreme temperatures or direct lighting. As long as you have 50 psi or more incoming you are set. Boosters are rarely needed unless you have very low pressure or very cold water or both.
