Urchin + Manits???
As some of you may know i am getting my first Odontodactylus Scyllarus, I was wondering if an urchin will be safe in the tank with the Peacock? Its a good sized urchin, the spikes are about 6 inches long. But I've read that the Peacock is very aggressive....
And I'd kinda like to know before I throw the little guy in there and send my Urchin to its death. Help?

Urchins do moderately well with mantises. Some mantises will kill and eat, some will ignore. Try it but like with just about any animal, no guarentees. BTW brittle stars tend to do well too.

Dr Roy advised me that eventually an urchin will be lunch.

well if the mantis does end up killing the urchin (which it probably will) i wont be too disappointed. the only reason i put the urchin in the soon to be mantis tank is because he keeps knocking off all of my new corals. so ill at least have something to clean the rocks and sand in the mantis tank until the fateful day he becomes lunch. =P

I put an emerald crab in with my CUC when I was finished cycling my mantis tanks. Lil f'er has picked up 2 ricordea ive had glued down so far and one of them is currently hitching a ride across the tank on top of my little pincushion urchin. WTH is the best way of geeting it off the urchin without doing harm to either of them. I tried catching the emerald but cant get ahold of him so hopefully my mantis will eat him soon.

I have five fish (three chromis, a six-line wrasse, and a damsel), a large serpent star, a medium-sized cuke, and a small tuxedo urchin with my peacock. So far, so good...

The mantis is about 4.5". Two chromis have disappeared over the last few days (I started with four). The damsel has been in there a year. The six-line is really, really fast and is a smart fish. If the chromis continue to decline, I will replace them with damsels that are "tougher" and quicker.
