I got to looking at my left over acrylic and I am going to have enough to make tops for the tank too. I want this tank and my sump sealed up as much as possible to try and keep evaporation down to a minimum.

Sweet job and nice progress. Let me know when you want some help. I will bring over some acrylic and maybe we can get my tiny sump put together too. I want to learn some of your secrets. lol. Seriously let me know when you might need me to flip or rotate the beast. I really do want to see this one coming together in person.

Where were you yesterday Chris? Just kidding. I got it flipped over last night (by myself I must add) and I trimed the edge off the top. By the time I got that done and cleaned up the ton of acrylic shavings, I was pretty much done for the evening. I will try and get the holes in the top drawn out and maybe start cutting on them tonight or tomorrow.

I got a late start tonight but I got the holes all drawn on the top. I couldnt get them cut because the kids were still up. I should be able to get started on them tomorrow. Here are my cut lines.

Do you rough them out with a saw or router? I use my cordless trim saw. It goes real quick with such a thin blade.
Do you let that thick stuff drop to the bottom or put something in there to catch it? I'd worry about it cracking once you cut away enough material to let it fall.

I will probabaly use tape to hold the piece so it doesnt fall. I hadnt thought of that. I am sure I would have figured it out while I was cutting it.

I got to thinking the other day about how to glue the overflow box on. It doesnt seem like a big deal, just stand it up on its side and glue it. Well, the ceiling in the garage is in the way so I am going to have to cut a piece out of the ceiling so I can glue the box on. Just kidding, it looks like I am going to have to take the tank outside of the garage, stand it up on end, and then glue it. Anyone have any other ideas?

Jackhammer the floor out from underneath it

I have glued vertical patches on tanks while in place. Its a real mess, but can be done (as far as holding water) It would be worth the effort of moving it outside, IMO.

Moderators- With all that is happening in my area of the world, (http://archive.reefcentral.com/forum...&highlight=mrc), please delete the picture I posted with my daughter. I feel it was not the best idea to post a picture of my daughter here. The picture is on the first page of this thread. You really never know who is lurking around the computer.

The tank is looking great! If you day job every goes south, it looks like you'll have acrylic tank building to fall back on.

And I don't disagree you one bit about removing the picture. I've almost posted the kids with the tank several times and always feel too uneasy to do it. Which is a terrible statement about our world and, a real shame given the fact that probably 99.9999% of those posting on RC are here for the same reasons, to learn and share within this hobby. It's the 0.0001% you have to protect your kids from... I digress, real nice tank.

Im getting the itch to get started on it. I bought 4- 60 gallon tanks today to make a Quarantine/prop tanks setup in the fish room. They measure 96"x11"x14" roughly,I plan on installing them one on top of each other on the back wall.Pretty cool, bought them from a closed fish store.Im ready to get this thing going soon so I can get it over with.Looks like you making plenty of progress, looking good! If you need help getting that monster on the stand LMK.
