Yep, don't buy one! Are you just joking or are you really going to put a moorish idol in a 30 gallon!! Not a funny joke!

Just messing with ya, I do know that they are very challenging to keep alive in captivity, not much else to tell you.

Be ready to get flame. The Moorish Idol require a very large tank. 200g + IMO. Do a search about Moorish Idol, there has been a few thread about it.

I would return it back to the lfs or find a bigger tank for it.

hi fishtanker,
I think you should put him in a big, established reef tank which has different types of sponge. In a new small tank i dont think MI will have much chance.

I would never get a Moorish Idol until we have a better understanding of their feeding requirements

LOL- you said it time for the flames to be fed, lookout for the idol police, it's a division of the tang police!!

I WAS GOING TO SAY!

lol.

Here is a thread I posted for april fools:

http://www.aquariumadvice.com/viewto...301&highlight=

by the way, has anyone ever gotten one to survive for more than a few months in captivity? I heard that besides large public aquariums, the death rate was 100%.

There are several people on RC who have had theirs for several years.
