I am not going to add alot more rock. I am a fan of the little rock/lotta coral look, but I do need some structure on the right side of the tank to mount some more corals. I want to buy a colony of something, I dont want a tank full of frags.
As far as the cord, I did run the cord through the PVC on the other light. I just have to clip the end of the cord off and re-connect it when it comes out the bottom of the PVC. I was just too lazy to do it right when I got the light. I will do it soon. |

I agree with the comments about the overflow box. It would have been MUCH better to add another hole along the top to function as a drain back to the sump, or to use one of the existing holes as a drain and eliminate the overflow box completely, which introduces flooding issues and is an eyesore in a 40 gallon tank.
I also didn't see any unions in the plumbing. There should at least be one union below each ball valve so that the plumbing can be disassembled without cutting any pipe. It makes maintenance much easier. |

The only thing I would change would be to shorten the lock lines a bit.
Again, looks real good. Are you going to kepp the glass clean so you see the blue, or let the coralline cover it?

Yea I do plan on shortening the loc lines. They were that long because they had to go over the top of my 20 gal, and like a said before... i'm lazy. I really dont like coralline algae so I will do my best to keep it off the glass. Will be getting an urchin to help me with that as well. I really like the clean look of nothing n the glass at all. I think the blue gives is a tropical look that the coralline would ruin.

I know all about the lazy part!
I too like the clean look, esp., with the blue background, I think it looks much better clean. Keep it up! How bout some pics of the old 20 gallon?

Ask and you shall receive.
Pic of the old 20 gal. A little fuzzy, but you get the idea: Also got a couple net additions to the 40 today. Here is the gift I bought for my clownfish, for being such a loyal fish for the past year and a half: She started to host it before I could even get it to the bottom of the tank. The second the anemone hit the water she was right there. Also a new fish for a little more color. Bartlett's Anthias: Could have done a little better on photography, but I just snapped a couple quick pics. And finally, just took another full tank shot showing the new additions. Funny cause if you look at the female clown, she is on her way over to her new"home" anemone" |

Nice! I got a call into All Glass to check if my old 50 breeder has tempered glass or not. You have inspired me, my friend!

Your tank looks great.
What kind of lighting are you using? |

Well, I drilled one hole in my 40 yesterday and started on the other!
You have inspired me, now just need to decide what to put in this tank after I set it up!

Great tank! I love the look of less rock too! How do you think it will impact on your biological filteration?? Will you add mor in the sump??
Just wondering... |
