Dangerous to do too many water changes?

I've got a 75 gallon reef tank, and I usually perform a 7 gallon water change once a week. I was really busy last week and skipped a water change, and I noticed my nitrates climbed uncomfortably high (around 10-15 ppm). I performed the regular water change and it dropped to about 8, but I am wondering if it's necessary to wait a certain period of time before performing another water change. I was thinking of giving it another 2 days, but I'm aware that my water contains not only nitrates, but all the good stuff too, so will an extra water change negitively impact my tank, even though the nitrates are a bit higher than normal? Normaly my nitrate ranges from 0-5 ppm, but there have been some new additions recently...

Thank you.

You should be fine to do an additional water change. Your Nitrates are not that bad. Whatever you are doing, keep doing it.

You should do a 20 gallon water once a month on a tank that size. Also are you using RO water?

Presumably, your new salt water also has these.

In general, I do not think that water changes are the best way to deal with nutrient issues, but they are very useful for other reasons and can have an impact on nutrients.

I discuss issues around water changes here:

The need for water changes varies with the tank and what you are trying to do. There are no set rules. At any rate, as long as the water is mixed/aerated for at least 24 hours and is close in temperature up to 50% is typically safe at one time.
