Is there something inside the head, like a tube?

There is a 4" ABS pipe cut lengthwise in half. The bottom of the head (inside) has an end cap that will have an inch or 2 of sand for a wrasse to call sleeping quarters. We'll see how it goes.

It de ja vu all over again!

Neptune, I can't wait to see it up and running again! I knew you bought it and I've been checking the treads to see it - come back to life!

Smart move mounting the Oceans Motions on it's side. I had to take it apart several times due to the original piston design and sand. I replaced the piston with a new design that works much better. I recommend not turning it on for a few days until all the sand settles. You'll know if it jams. Theres a large clicking sound that occurs when the magnetic coupler breaks free on every cycle. No harm is done, just annoying.

I'm sure folks are asking - why did I take it down? My biggest fear was leaving the chillers under the house- unattended or monitored. I also worried about leaking. I pulled a RO/DI hose loose once and made a mess. (Wife never saw it so don't tell her!

I'm thinking about putting a small tank in my office this summer.

Keep posting and good luck!

I can't give you all my secrets!!!!!

My buddy works at a plumbing company that we share a building with and I asked him if you even needed primer? He said that they only use it because code calls for it (probably reason for purple) and that if the pipe is clean(no mud, ect) that you did'nt need primer. He also told me about the clear(last Thur.) or I would of passed it along. Good to know anyway

No sand on the bottom as I prefer bare bottom tanks. There will be a very small quantity of sand inside each tiki head for wrasses to sleep in (like an inch or two).

Dave,

It is obvious how much thought and planning you've put into this tank. All that time has surely paid off. Simply, amazing! Even without anything living in it yet! Can't wait to see it in person.

This thing is starting to look pretty damn cool!

How are all the inhabitants in your 125 doing after the UV exposure?

Rick/Josh,
Thanks very much! I hope it looks good all stocked

As far as my bulb break in the 125 it did not go to well. Things just went spiraling down after the exposure. I lost a bunch and hair algea sprouted up everywhere. I also have a ton going on so I didn't have the time to keep up with proper maintenance...so Jason from Atlantis was kind enough to hold all my living corals till I get the new system up and running. I wouldn't wish a bulb break on anyone
