Question Why is the DMV such a nightmare

Ok I am only 29 years old but I have dealt with the DMV quite a bit in my young life. Maybe one of you can answer a question that I am sure most of us have asked at one point or another.

Why is the DMV such a PIA?

DO you have to take a test for general unplesantness to get a job there. Now I will admit that I have been on the wrong side of where I needed to be when dealing with them and I have aided in there bad mood in the past. Now that I am older and more refined/experienced I have learned the old rule... You get more bees with honey. But they still suck!!! I have to brave the DMV tomorrow so I called ahead to make sure that I have everything I need to get everything taken care of tomorrow. After holding for 20 minutes I finally get someone on the phone. I tell her exactly whet my insurance company told me I needed and she says that I don't need to do anything. Sooo I say that I cannot take care of my insurance needs without the dmv getting involved and she says my insurance company is lying. I was floored All I want to do is register a jeep so I can insure it. No big deal right. Oh my GOD they are terrible.

I have dealt with some nice people on very few occasions so if you are by chance one of the cool people I appologize. But if you are one of the people that suck please tell me why you suck so bad!!!

Thank you for hearing me out

It is because you need them, they don't need you. They are not making a commission or anything like that. They are paid by the hour. It doesn't matter if they help 1 person an hour or 50 people an hour. What are you going to do, go to a competing DMV?

I think you do have to take a test for general unplesantness...

Every DMV i have ever had to go to sucked.. But then again I am sure the people they deal with on a daily basis suck too..

Just thinking about going there puts me in a bad mood

If it didn't suck, I think it would be called something else.

I've been to hell. I spell it...I spell it DMV

Govt job, need we say more?

I had a car stolen, next year I get an excise (road use) tax bill
I go in & tell the lady what happened
Doesn't blink or even look up: "You have to turn the plate in or you will get billed"
I didn't say a word, just stood there & stared at her
It finally sinks in what I said
She looks up and says "Oh"
I sorta smile & say "Yeah, they took the plate too"
I had reported it, to the police AND the DMV
Duh!!

I had a car stoled reported it to the police and they did nothing. got a letter from the dmv saying I abandoned my car. nope. I did not. So I take the stupid letter my title the keys and the report number to dmv. show them everything and they said to what do you want us to do. WHAT????? could they not freeking read. so I got a superviser. what a freekin joke . I sat there for 6 hr just to end up paying a fine. well that drew my line. I threw the keys and the title at them and told them now they own it. turned around and headed for the door the superviser ran to me and said we can solve this . I said now you want to solve this. nope. They wanted to put a 500 fine on my record over a stolen car. and if the police where doing what they are paid for I would never of had this fine. well I got the fine removed. my thing is if my patience runs out . I never hold back. I guess they were afraid I might end up reporting them. I think they take courses in F**K you. And Hurry up and wait. I dreed going to DMV i would reather shoot myself.

I'm sure Scottsdale has something similar, but here we have a private title company downtown that can do everything DMV can do such as registrations, titles, license plates, etc. They are very nice, helpful, and quick. There's a fee, though, but it's worth it.

I lived in Havasu for a year or so in 2005, went to the MVD (motor vehicle dept., that's what they call it in Mohave Co.) and had all of my vehicles transfered to Az. Very nice poeple indeed. Really. As you entered, you had to talk to the greeter who told you what window to go to. The wait was only 15 or 20 min. at most and they even had nice chairs to sit in while the agent took care of your needs. All with a smile and some chit chat. But I guess that's how it is in a town of 30,000.

Don't get me started about California. The mods would take away my RC priviledges.
