Magic Hermit Claw!
I have an anenome Hermit Crab, he molted a couple weeks ago and lost his large pincher in the molt. He has been doing fine, still just as aggressive as without it. Just last night I was inspecting him closely (the tank is next to my couch) and he had a small little nub where is large claw was. I had read that it usually takes a couple molts and the limb will regenerate probably over a few months or so... Well, today I was looking through the tank, and HE ALL OF A SUDDEN HAD A HUGE CLAW AGAIN!!! I couldn't believe he was able to grown this Large claw overnight!!! Am I missing something?! How did this happen?? I am assuming it is still soft because I havent seen him use it yet... Has anyone else experienced or watched this happen??????

i just found his molt, But to regenerate that entire huge claw in one molt is impressive- i didnt realize he was molting because he was been quite active the past few days...

My Coral Banded Shrimp had lost both his claws. After 1 molt, he had both again but only half the size. After the second molt, his claws were the same as the originals.

He must of had it tucked up behind him inside the shell or something, because the night before I was looking Very closely at him (he was right next to the glass) All i was able to see was a little nub. maybe the nub was the joint where it was folded inside the shell...

That's probably it. Cool looking crab, btw. How much do they go for? What's their life expectancy?

I paid $12 off of saltwaterfish.com, not sure how long, but I imagine it should live a while like most hermits... Ive only had him for about 2 months..
