Sanjay,
that method creates plenty of possibilities to place corals at, most of them pretty plain.
To create more stability, pillars are bound together, placing a flat rock between them doin' little drillings or use holes in the rock and using cable ties to connect them.
Ralf

moonpod,
i've had a look at the www.Royal-Exclusiv.de (Vendor of Red Dragon) website, were Klaus Jansen, the manufacturer stated (in German forum and language on site) that the cleaning interval is depending on how much kalk you have in your system and how good your buffersystem works.
One should not dripp Kalkwater near the pump.
If using pump for the first time, one should check afer 3 month and have a look on how clean it is, expanding that period for the next time, if it was ok.
One should check at least once a year for safety.
One should not use concentrated acids for decalcifying, and max. 10 min. on heavily thinned acids (HCl for instance).

Thats all i could figure out.
Ralf.

Yeah, I drip my kalk well away from the pumps, but I've had a couple stall outs from CA buildup. I usually use the Deltec ezeclean stuff. Works well IMO. Thanks again Ralf. GREAT system. I am supposed to go to Kiel next year, maybe I can see the system in person?

Ok folks, this will be an upcoming TOTM shortly (August). Let's try to leave a little suspense to look forward to when the article comes out, please.

I'm sure all your questions will be answered at that time.

TIA

I just had to say this, I love the front paneling. This just shows that there is a reason why german cars are so stylish and beautiful. Great work.

I must echo what everyone else is saying here Ralf, your tank is unbelievable. It deserves to be a tank of the month for sure. I am blown away by how real it is and how clear your water is. I just started on reefcentral a few weeks ago and just bought a 65g set up (I live in San Francisco). I am in now a couple thousand dollars, which is pennies I'm sure compared to a project like yours. Someday I will hopefully be at your level of reef development if I last! If you don't mind can you put some numbers on how much it cost to build your setup, as well as how much time you have spent on it too? I would think your house has got to be the hang out spot for all your friends!

Hi all,
thanks for your great posts!
Still can't believe, that my tank is choosen for August TOTM.
Lets see if it'll really happen :-).
Well, maybe its best to wait with more descriptions and pictures for the TOTM and it's thread,
to keep a little tension.

Bluecarpet: to place a coral, I put my head with divingmask and snorkle into the water to be able to see what i do ;-)

laomedon: basic idea was that if we can't hide the gaps between the panels totaly, we'll have to accent them.

waterboy82: be patient with your reef, sometimes it takes years.
I am very sorry, but I'll stick to what I wrote on page 3 about not telling what I paid :-(.
From first planning to tank stocked with first coral, it took 1.5 years.

More to read on Aug. TOTM.

Hope to "see" you there ;-)
Ralf

You're right. Actually, I wanted to move the whole thread somewhere private in order to create some suspense and anticipation prior to the article, but I've done that before with bad results.

all: thanks, but hold back your conrats till it really happens ;-)
Joao: :-)

I really love the TOTMs section in Reefkeeping and associated threads and don't want this to be nearly empty or useless.
I'll delay further answers to start of august (hey thats only a month) for that purpose.
SORRY, for that.

Best,
Ralf

How do you like the Tunze waveboxes? I had the idea that putting other powerheads in there would disrupt the wave pattern, but it obviously works well in your tank! Great stuff.

Hi Ralf,

No doubt in my mind this is TOTM! There are no words to describe your setup. I am STUNNED!!!!! IMO, the best setup I've seen here on RC. Truely amazing. Thanks for sharing with us.
