what pump to use? I need info asap
well im finally about to start filling the 210. For a sump i found a 40 gallon rubbermaid roughneck tub and installed two 1 in bulkheads on one end and a 1in bulkhead on the other end. The two 1inchers are gonna be from my overflow boxes since my tank is not drilled i had no choice but to use these. Drilling was out of the question for me. Anyways my other 1in bulkhead will be feeding my pump but im not sure which one to get. I also have an excalibur skimmer that will be sitting in the sump. I know its a very basic design but it has worked for me for years so why change now. This will be a fowlr but i still like alot of water movement. So i was thinking a mag 24 for return and maybe a couple tuze streams in the tank. Does this sound about right for a return pump?

The main concern for your return pump is the1"size of your B.H.'s. An external pump will yield more water volume and less heat transferance. You can not use a pump with a larger intake diameter, such as a 1 1/2" 0r 2" inlet with a 1" B.H.This will cause the pump to strain. You can use any submersible pump, but for an external pump you will need either a smaller 3/4" pump inlet such as the Gen-X PCX-40 with around 1100GPH at 6' or the Gen-X 100 with a 1" intake and around 1600 Gph at 6' head. If you are looking for more water movement, then a larger B.H. in your sump is a better way to go.

FWI. The Mag 24 is rated at 2400 GPH at zero head. At 6 ' it will be much less. I got your E mail, sent one back.
