Wow! That's cool...thanks for sharing! Maybe it can be innovated and be incorporated to a nano freezer. All we have to do is fill fish food cubes and can be program according to your feeding demands per day or weeks.

Frags.org is like dealing with eBay. You can find some really awesome people, as well as deals, on frags.org. But, just like eBay, you can find some rather unsavory characters there. Photomanipulation. Poor quality frags. Not to mention undesirable hitchhikers. Individual results and opinions will vary on your own personal experience (and on who you pick to do business with).

No on-line...just local...walk in and walk out...no problems with shipping charges or DOA's. This would be members of the co-op (maybe reef-op) and a limited amount of public offerings. I like to think of the co-op buying some high end colonies, and dividing them up and sharing. Frag a colony, and keep it on premise until it heals and then share with co-op members. I always like buying frags and seeing where they go. Nothing works like seeing the tanks the corals are coming from to judge husbandry skills and up keep.

something that would remove the salt from waste water from water changes so I could use the dirty water for the garden.

a website that's just for show and lists prices of things at 50% for showing the spouse that I didn't spend that much

Yeah - a fake 50% off would be nice, but I think my wife would still get mad if I spent $200 on a vortech!

They already have Aquacultured/tank raised Bangaii cardinals, and i believe that Mandrins will also breed in the home Aquarium rather easily.

I wish that they would actually sell some GOOD live rock at the LFS.

I was watching Dirty Jobs one day and spied Mike Rowe building reef balls. When they got to making layer cakes, I couldn't help but wonder, if we can make both reef balls and some really awesome replicas of corals in resin..... why can't we combine the two to make prefab liverock. Although, my thought on that could be coming from the fact that I always see uber awesome liverock pieces in other tanks and can never find anything like it for my own tank. *jealousy*

.... would you really want something that grows to be 14-18" long, poops everywhere in long, ugly bits, and gets really invasive when people let it loose because it outgrew their tank?

A hair algae / cyano cleanup kit!

As I see it this is probably the biggest hurdle most new reefers/salt water aquarists have to overcome. It would include a sump / refug, skimmer, kalk/phoshate reactor, lighting, a reference book about algae and any other associated hardware. It should be offered as an option or already included with a price of a new tank. Tenecor has something like this but they put bioballs in the design of the tank.

And maybe as an added bonus/incentive; a coupon to receive a free cleanup crew from one on the various live vendors here!

Otherwise, I would second an automated feeder that you can put a weeklong supply of frozen foods in and would dispers small amounts throughout the day.

Wishful thinking, it will be a very long list, basically:

- not monstrous things, but suitable for narrow places, that just do the job and do not cost a fortune,
- equipment, that does declared function well, doesn't requires babysitting it and suitable for a bedroom by absence of noise, and is readily available from the mail order seller, that wants to sell,
- automatic everything, at the modest price,
- charts with a simple ready solutions for everyday aquarium needs, starting with aquascaping and making glue hold, all possible flow configurations, suitable for 1 -2 - 3 situations, list of options for downsizing, and so on,
- readily available supplies, that do not require hunting down every time.

Solar-powered powerheads. I've certianly got enough light above the tank to run it.

It has and is being done. There is a guy here local to me that can make any shape of rock you want for your tank. He using the same method as the reef balls and such. My LFS has sold tons of this stuff and it works like a charm. Here is a link to his website that he is in the process of putting up to sell from. I don't think he is quite ready to sell online yet but should not be too much longer. Check out the gallery of pieces. That Deltec wall is in our LFS's 600 Gallon Display tank.

If I ever decide to move to the house in Florida I have, off the Gulf of Mexico. I think I would lease space in the Gulf (which can be done), make my own agracrete rocks according to tank sizes. Back plates, overflow covers, caves, ledges etc. I would have holes already in place that would have frag plugs in them. If you wanted to put a frag in a particular spot, you would take out the frag plug, scrape it clean and then using super glue and a super glue accelerator attach the frag to the plug and put it into place...easy. The back plates would have lots of ledges and nooks and crannies so that you could triple the places to put frags on. Maybe make spots to hide different powerheads in at different levels...many rock sellers actually mine rock off of dry land and then put it into the ocean in large wire cages to age and become live rock. I am also in contact with various ceramic clay manufacturers to find out which clay would work best for this purpose. I would like to keep the cost down....$200 for a single piece of cermaic rock is crazy. Right now I have made aggracrete plug rocks in natural shapes and have them "curing" in my toilet water tank.

frozen food feeder looks great and prob very easy to DIY. I'm all for using solar panels at the side of tanks to generate any extra power to put back into the system. I'm going to look at a turbine in the overflow and see what kind of power you can get out to see if it is worthwhile.
