tell me about deep substrates.

Hey all,
I want to put a jaw fish in my tank. I've heard people put off a deep sand bed, but I don't know why. Are there concerns for me to address\watch out for?

well problem with DSB that it reguires Detivore kits to use it proper and can be expensive since they recommend to recharge this every 2 years.

I've been reading that possibly Nassarius Snails maybe meat eaters, predators or is that some? How many nassarius are you supposed to have for a DSB?
