White spot on clown

I've noticed this white spot at the base of my clown's left side fin where it meets the body. It looks more like a (excuse the term) zit, as it does like cotton or cauliflower. If anything it may be a bit fuzzy. Just did a 20% water change today, tank and sump = about 65 gal. Amonia, Nitrite, Nitrate are zero, Ca is low at 250 (just started with Ocean's Blend two part) and Alk about 3 meq. Those are the only tests I have. He is the only fish in the tank which has been up for 3 1/2 months, fish has been in for about 2 1/2 months. 50 snails are the only other things in the tank. He has been eating well, and very active, does not look or act "sick" at all. Picture is the best I could get. I don't have a QT tank, but could get one tomorrow if need be.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
Jeff

No idea Jeff. It does not look like the typical infections. I would leave him in the tank and monitor for awhile. Eating and active without increased respirations are fine.

You could have an infected fish and still have normal respiration and decent appetite. If you think that it is fungal versus ich, you still might want to get a QT and treat with something like Melafix or maracyn.

Thanks all for the responces. It's not ick, it's been there for about a week. The clown shows no signs or symptons of being sick at all. He's eating well, very active and shows no sign of labored respirations. I think I'll just watch him for a little longer, if he seems to be getting any worse I'll put him in QT and treat.
Thanks again,
Jeff

I have a clown fish also that sometimes has that white appearance sometimes. If you look at it closely it is probably a scale that is being discarded. This is what it looks like to me from the picture. Scales will turn white when they are being discarded.

Jeff, you sound sexist. What if your clown is really a she!

I have some pics of some coral frags I will be shipping you. Want me to post it here, or do you have your build thread still active?

I will frag tonight and mount them for you. That will allow them time to heal while you get the Ca and Alk stabilized.

Hey Scott

Sorry if I offended you Scott, I'll try to be a little less "sexest" in the future. As for my fish HE is still doing well, the spot has not changed and HE is still very active. The build thread is not active so you can just post pictures here or PM them to me. I'm dosing the Ocean's Blend so hopefully in a few weeks I'll have things stabilized. Thanks Scott.

hehehehehehehe!

I actually found a thread in teh Ohio Forum and posted a bunch of photos there. You ibetter go look at teh eye candy. I will start fragging tonight so it would help me to know what you want, so I don;t take it to the frag swap.
