75 Gallon Lights
I want to build 2 metal halide lamps for my 75 gallon tank. I have 2 coil core ballasts and am trying to choose the bulbs for them. What reasonably priced bulbs are the best? I have heard alot about the 20000k bulbs has anyone had good luck with them or am I better off doing something with 10000k and getting a seperate actinic bulb?

I have also heard that it is cheaper to run my power compacts is that true as far as an electric bill? I heard someone pays almost 30 dollars more a month to run metal halides?
I already have 2 4ft long power compacts but the bulbs need to be replaced which will cost me 200 dollars so I was thinking about doing metal halides instead so I can save on the bulb replacements in the future? Is that a dumb idea? |

I have a 75 gallon tank and run dual 250W 14k HAMILTONS and love them. The picture is just to show you how I set up my lamps. These are not the Hamilton bulbs as I added them only about a week ago.
