DIY Over Flow

For this you will need 3/4 inch PVC
or 1 inch
8 elbows
1 T
and and air syfoner

pics are self explainitory

does not loose syphon when you have power outage. this will pick up were it left off

when I am bored I do things like this . I am sure my gf doesn't like it. lol becouse I always have some sort of science project going on.

see the air valve at the top of the overflow. just suck the air out and your done

I built one of these a while back for my 20g. I didn't use the check valve though, just had an air line there with a twist on-off valve.

My only issue was if I stuck my hands in the tank really quickly, the overflow couldn't handle it and developed an air bubble. After 1 or two times, it would air lock at the top and stop working.

Have you noticed this Ryan? The only difference with mine was I just had a pipe going straight up to skim the surface, instead of that doodad you got there.

I didn't seem to get this problem. when I did a straight stand pipe like the one your talking about I had that problem. hmmm. maybe its the design go figure. this one seems to be able to keep up. also did you make it out of 1 inch?

I am gonna make a 3/4 inch one and see if I have the problems your talking about. if not I might have an DIY overflo for sale. lol. Anyone interested?
