Dying Frogspawn
Hello,
I noticed on sunday that my metallic green frogspawn, and hammer were not opening fully, and they have never not opened fully. So i gave it 2 days, then yesterday i went to run a full battrey test and as soon as i touched the water i noticed right away that it was very warm. So i looked over at my thermometer and it said 82 degrees?? somehow it incresed by itself. so i opened my stand and took the cover off my tank and ponted a huge fan at it until it cooled off. Today my hammer seems like its bouncing back, but my frogspawn will not open like it used to, its giving me the im dying look. im crushed, ive had this coral forever, and it is my showpice. Any suggeswtions on what i can to to save this truly beautiful, huge, $200 mettalic green frogspawn? Thank You, Rob.... |

You can run some carbon (or Chemipure, or Purigen) to help with dying tissue, if it will be. And just give them some time, 82F is hight, but not deadly high.
BTW, I have different digital and a glass with suction cup thermometers, the difference may be 2 degrees F. 84F is much worse... Watch this heater - could be possible malfunction, other than raising the ambient temperature in the room - if it has a lot of sun. |

Time will tell. I lost a purple tip frogspawn when I bumped the temp to try and force a RBTA to split. The other euphillias i had at the time bounced right back.
Only other thing I would do is make sure its out of direct current so it doesn't loose damaged but not dead flesh.

Try adding Coral Accel to help regenerate the growth of the frogspawn. As suggested above try adding carbon and perform a decent water change to remove any toxins that may be present. Monitor PH, Calcium, and Carbonate. If one is off it could be affecting the others too.
