plate slowly declining??
ive had a green lt plate for 4 plus months. it just recently started retracting its tentacles, not nearly as bright green and tentacles are much less in number. about half the plate is a dull grey color.it also collects debris around its tentacles. i brush that off daily and try to feed it every few days some mysis shrimp. it rarely accepts it. i dont know what to do... help!!

Is the coral in optimal conditions? What is the lighting, flow, and the water conditions? If the conditions are right try to dip the coral in a high iodine dip (Seachem, Coral-D, ect.).

yes, id consider it optimal. as much flow as it used to be able to stand without shrinking, its on the sand, parameters are:
temp-82 alk-8.6 ph-8.2 ca-430 mg-1250 ammonia, nitrite, nitrate- 0 and lastly its 20" below a 250w metal halide. |

LT plates do have poor survivablity rates beyond a year. Yes it has been done but many more have died than surived long term.
It could very well be you did nothing specifically wrong and water parameters alone are not going to make you successful at beating the odds. Best to just avoid buying them in the future. With no demand hopefully will send the message to stop collecting them.
