I have the same skimmer and I was browsing around the asm site. A person was making a mod and asked the same question about the uniseal. Here's the link to the post.

Hope it helps.

mdave I have several spare uniseals. I forgot what size you need but Lageo04 is right about where to get the info. Find out what you need and I am sure I have a spare.

Sounds right because my uniseal for my intake from the drain was 1.5 and it was larger. If I remember correctly their web site is not clear and I had to email for the sizes.

Yep I have one spare 1" if you want it. Also I was wrong, I used 1 1/4 for my drain input.

Not easy. I had to have two valves from a tee on the main drain. I spent a lot of time adjusting it. Finally I used a feed pump placed near the drain outlet.

I did the recirc mod and plumbed the intake off of the tank's main drain. I put a tee in line with a ball valve to control flow to the skimmer. It works like a champ. I bought the goods needed for the gate valve mod but can't use use it on my setup. If anyone needs it, let me know.
You guys will love the upgrade in performance.

mbdave - I don't mean to hijack your thread so let me know if you want me to post a new one...

I don't have an ASM, but am interested in doing a recirc mod on my skimmer. I've recently been making a few changes to it, such as working on an auto-clean collection cup.

It seems to me the recirc mod could work for most skimmers, correct? And if so, does anyone have pointers for this?

My skimmer is a LifeReef, venturi, pump fed and is 36" tall. What recirc pump should I buy (or how is the pump size determined)? I would most likely have to add new plumbing to the skimmer's outlet to reduce micro-bubbles?? Is there anything else I need to be aware of to take into consideration?

What most people do with the recirc mod is use the pump that came with the skimmer as the recirc pump. They simply add a feed pump (powerhead) or use a drain line or part of a drain line.

Right now my main pump, MAG-36, is split for the return and skimmer. I'd probably keep it this way (have a valve to control the input flow) and buy a recirc pump. Are these simply pumps that allow air injection or it there anything else special about them?
