Lighting a 90g for Softies/LPS/Clams

I just bought my own christmas present off Craiglist, a 90g RR Oceanic with a matching stand! My wife and I will be moving into a house soon and I would like to have this setup as my main reef. I am not really interested in SPS, but I do have several Derasa's that I would like to be able to keep on the sand. For the combination of corals/clams I want to keep which of the following systems would work best for lighting:

-2x150W DE 14K MH+2x54w T5
-2x250W DE 14K MH
-2x250W DE 14K MH+2x54w T5
-Aquactinics TX5
-TEK or Current Extreme Pro 6x54W T5

I would also like to keep the electrical comsupmtion to a minimum.

Most of the Hamilton fixtures seem to be SE 175w, is that what you are suggesting?

I just tried the Reeflux 12K bulbs. I was using Hamilton 14K's and I needed VHO actinics to supplement it, with the reeflux I had to turn the VHO's off because my tank looked purple. I would consider 2x250w Reeflux 12K bulbs on E ballasts (mine are icecap) and would forget the flourescents.

You also want to think about the height of a 90G if your keeping your clams on the sandbed. If you're just keeping Derasas your lighting requirements wouldn't be as high as Croceas, but still would require light penetration of nearly 24".

clevengergl, that is the question I am trying to get answered, will any of these systems allow me to put the Derasa's on the sandbed?

Definitely either of the MH systems mentioned would work. The all-T5 fixture might be questionable, though.

i was in the same situation, 90 gal and wanted clams on the sand bed. i had differing answers, some said t5 some said mh. if you are going the route of t5 try to get icecap ballast and reflectors for a little more par output. i chose the 2 250 watt metal halide, and will eventually get the t5 supplement. i am pleased with my choice. if you are going to go to mh dont go 150 the penetration will not be enough for the hight of the tank. just my thoughts.
