Neptune's 220g Build Thread

Hey folks...
Never done a build thread....but I figured now would be a good time to do one

It will be SPS dominated with lots of fish (Tangs/Angels/etc. etc.) I am doing a custom rock job that will be along the lines of a sunken Polynesian ruin with hollow Tiki heads on either end of the tank that will have shallow sand beds inside for a couple wrasses (rest of the tank will be bare bottom)...for fun each of the Tikis will light up from the inside with Green or Blue LEDs (Just for kicks during RRC gatherings ) Sounds tacky but I hope it will look kinda cool when completed.

Flow in the system will be provided by a dart/oceans motions, 2 Vortechs, and the return.

Lighting to start will be 3 400w 20k XMs with Actinic suppliments.

Aside from the main Reef I will have my 30g cube connected and sitting on the cabinet to the side. This will be a micromussa display with a special fish of some kind (TBD)

First,
Here is the plan for the system (some minor modifications will be made as I go along).

I will start taking pics to post this evening...

How long has it taken you and I to get these tanks done? Atlantis moved locations and set up entire store during this time period I think!

By no means a contest

Also, for those who don't know this tank was purchased used last summer. I believe it was bblair's setup previously. Never met em' but heard good things and saw pics of the tank in his gallery...looked awesome!

And if the darn 30g tank I was running hadn't sprung a leak and forced my hand, my signature would probably still say "I'm working on setting up a 75"...

Nice mock up...can't wait to start seeing things build up...I wasn't even aware that Bill had gotten out of the hobby...I got a bunch of stuff from him that is working in my 75g right now...and I was due some of his corals as frags too...oh well...

Now then...where are them pics you promised...I don't see them yet...

Here is the boring (and PITA) portion... I installed 2 x 20A circuits for this system...and the plumbing. One thing I hate with my 120gal is the electrical set up (something I aimed at correcting with this new tank). This will be hidden behind the stand.

Nice and clean looking...are you running those outlets off of switches somewhere else in the house? Or are you gonna put in more switches and timers for your equipment? Are there any GFCI's in the mix?

The equipment will all be plugged into rocker panels (they came with the tank). One 20A breaker is GFCI (for less critical items).

Thanks Rick! That was a good read...cool to see it in action with it's previous owner. I only hope I can do justice to what Bill managed to do with it.

Sorry LB. The next time Brandon is stuck on one of his engineering algorithms, I'll hold back so you can help him out.

Good Progress Today!

Here is a shot of the Oceans Motions 4-Way with a Dart in the background. When I first plugged the OM in it didn't spin so I had to take the whole thing apart to see what was wrong.....turns out I got a drip of PVC glue in there and it jammed the inner spinning drum. It was easy to remove and it worked perfectly afterwards!

Here are my two drains in the sump. The lower valve goes to the return pump and chiller. The upper one is a drain for water changes. The drain will be connected to a pump to do quick draining.

Here are the two overflow pipes with ball valves. One goes directly into the skimmer and the other just drains into the sump.

Here is the line into the skimmer:

Here is the tank being filled to test all the bulkheads and unions for leaks. Only a couple found and fixed:

More to come later!
