I am sooooo in this, 2 portions even! I love this idea.

Some questions:

If you were to get a ton of people who put in then wouldn't the sand get to deep?

How many inches is your sandbed going to be before you decide that you will need another tank?

If you need help or another tank let me know. I could use my 20 and 10 gallon as backups if you run out of space.

Don't worry about the room. I have a 50 gallon oceanic and a 30 gallon breeder if necessary I can set them both up. I managed 100 servings of sand in the same 30 gallon breeder last year and it wasn't a problem.

I also have about 20 rubbermaid containers with bulkheads installed that I could always hook up also.

I got it covered...

Hey great idea! Count me in! My dsb 120 has been set up for at least 8 years w/ sugar size agranite. We just started a new reefer club down in southern maryland, I'll check and see how many of our experience reefers may be interested.

Thanks for setting this up,
Mike

I'm in too! What a cool idea. My sandbed is about 6 years old and is teeming with brittle stars and other stuff of all sizes. But it's not sand it's aragonite and some very broken down crushed coral.

The people who are worried about disrupting their sandbed with a bit of crushed coral can think of it this way: all you'd have to do is push that stuff down into the sand bed a bit and you'd immediately hide it.

We're gonna need a bigger boat...

I'm happy to see all the interest - a little daunted that we're 30 days out from ship date and there's this much interest... I might have to rethink the 50 gallon tank. Perhaps a 100 gallon rubbermaid stocktank is more realistic...

I really want to participate but currently my south down is still in a rubbermaid container.
Is there any way I can send some money and get some of this terrific sand.
the timing is perfect b/c it will be a few weeks before I can finish setting up.

Have about 60 people now, give or take a few. How much is shipping on a single serving (2 cups)?

I believe the USPS vhs box is about $3.85. If not, it's just a little bit more, not much though.

I'd like to get in on this too, but I'm pretty close on the 3 month rule, and my tanks only been up about 4 1/2 months. Come on, you can trust me. 1 portion would be great.

Count me in for 4 cups. This is a great idea and thanks for doing this. Can you send a reminder to us when the date for us to ship gets close.
Wife already has the hammer ready. Just let her know when to use it. That will remind me.

I will remind everyone - don't worry.

FYI - shipping cost for flat rate envelope (which you stuff the VHS box in is $3.85 regardless of weight.

Shipping cost for flat rate box (for 2 servings - 4 cups) is $7.70

FYI - if you don't do a GREAT job of sealing your sand, it will leak, and the package will NOT be delivered to me.

I cannot be held responsible if on the way to me or the way back something happens (ie: angry mailman, earthquake, mailtruck accident, etc.)

Thanks everyone for the interest...

Count me in for two portions. I missed it last year and have been waiting.

However I have a problem with Feb. 7th. Leaving for vacation on Feb 5th and won't return until the 13th. I could send it on Friday, the 4th if that's okay. Let me know.
