Cool.
I was also wondering how you will care for the community sandbed. Will you feed it, aerate it, stir it occasionally, or what? Also, do you think it would be useful if people sent a list with their sand of the known organisms? Then you could post a summary list of what we may all be getting. |

Well, I would love to get in on this but I just had another outbrake of flatworms.
Little bastards are hard to get rid of. Question, could I just send you the money to ship some back and send alittle extra and you donate 2 cups from your system for me? I will happily compensate you for the donation of your sand. Bull |

I was wondering if I could make plans to participate. I have crushed corals in my display, but i do have sand in my fuge. I don't know if I will participate, I was just wondering if I could with crushed corals, or if I should sand if I do or what.

James last time the swap went smooth and we had no problems that I am aware of. You continued swapping sand for a long time after the dates for the swap was set. In fact I was new to the hobby so to speak and left my return sand sit in your tank almost up to the last.
The sand was teaming with life! Stars, pods, worms, snails etc. bacteria from what 100 tanks and 25 or so states. I will be doing it again with out any hesitation. So my sand will be from the original swap, plus whatever diversity has arrived with added live rock and rock pieces from frag swaps. Thanks again Ron

Also - sorry to hear about those flatworms....
That's a bummer. And for anyone with different sand grades in their different tanks (ie: cc in the tank, southdown in the fuge, etc) just take some of each... All sand types are welcome

That's why it's Diverse!
Last time was awesome! This time I can't wait: To heck with Valentine's Day, February is Sand Swap Month!

James,
I was one who purchased after the swap ended. I was very very pleased with what I received. I will be participating in the swap this time around. Thanx for your effort James, Russ PS- Would it make life a little easier for you if everyone that sends in their 2 cups also includes one of the USPS address labels filled out with their own return addresses?

I suppose suggestions from a newcomer might be unwelcome, but wouldn't April and May be a better season for sending the sand?

That's why the folks in CMAS know him as "Dag" as in, "Dag, man, what's with that??"
These sand-born critters are pretty tough. I got a detritivore kit from Rob Sullivan (RC member, posts often) last year in the middle of winter, and you may recall that it was not exactly a balmy January we had last year in these parts. When I took the bags out of the box, you could see them all teaming with critters. This shouldn't be a problem...
