pickling lime

found some pickling lime at walmart in the kichen ware department. It was on safe for 50cent a can.

some of them but not in milpitas. I believe san jose walmart is 24hrs open.

I'm new to dosing. What is the purpose of the lime? Raise alkalinity? Thanks
