Unhappy Eating Mantis Shrimp

Caught the new show on food network tonight. Zane Lamprey (of Mojo's Three Sheets fame) has the show called "Have fork will travel".

He was in Bangkok and was in a seafood place that had vats where you pick out your live meal and they cook it for you. There was a vat with about 8-10 mantis shrimp that had to be 10-12" long. He reached in and just grabbed one and held it up for the camera. I was waiting for him to get a spear through the finger or smashed in the knuckle or something.

Then he went to the table and they had crabs, shrimp and the mantis there all cooked up. I had never heard of someone eating a mantis shrimp but I guess they do over there.

Just thought it was neat and wondered if anyone had seen this or experienced it before.

Saw the show, and thought "Holy crap, is that idiot grabbing a mantis shrimp". I like the idea of food that can defend itself, maybe clear a few idiots off of this planet.
