My 180 pics - after moving
I moved a few months ago and my 180 has been up for almost 2 months. I left out alot of rock and coral this time to open up some space for growth.

Thanks CUNAReefer. That's all I've got so far. I bribed a local reefer with frags to come by with his awesome camera to take some pics. My camera is not so nice.
Anyways, it's a 180bb display in a 480g total system with a remote DSB in the refugium. It was bb for a year and a half, and I could never get the alk to maintain. I am like the stability of the new setup so far. It's just been a month, so we'll see... |

Looking good! Future TOTM! Does Inky have recent tank pics here? His tank is the most amazing tank I have ever seen in person.

Wow, what big difference. Looked nice before, but now even better. Also, I bet the fish are loving the extra room.

Nice tank! I like the open look better. It frees up more space for coral growth and some nice fish

Thanks! I have 3x 400 XM20k in LAIII, it's a bb with a remote DSB, CL Hammerhead and Dart and 2x SeaSwirls - an MJ Mod on the one on the right, ASD Dual stage Ca reactor, Kalk reactor, and Dual recirc skimmer, UV, and I use an RKII controller. There is another MX10k 400 over the frag tank on a reverse photoperiod. 480 gallons total.

It's open. It hangs from the ceiling by wire. I'm considering making a partial light shield for the front and sides. It's just so frikkin bright. I have to have my nose on the glass to look into it or be several feet away.
It is attached with 2 pieces of aluminum angle: This was at the old house: |

Well, moving the tank was easy. The moving of the life support system was the PITA. I set up the fishroom with the frag tank and made twice as much water as I thought I needed for the systems additions. I framed in all the shelving. Added the sump for the skimmer, the refugium below it, and had and extra 100 g sump for the bottom.
I plumbed it all together so that it would work as a system on it's own. I drained all of the reactors and skimmers and cleaned them quickly. Then I took 50% of the old system water and moved it to the new system and did a new water change on the old system. I added the old water to the new system in the same ratio. I let this circulate for a day with only pumps running in both systems. I set up all of the peripherals in the new system and then moved all of the corals over to the frag tank. They frag tank held all of the corals for a month as I moved and replumbed the display. Easy right? I lost about 20 corals, 5 that I really miss, and no fish lost. Out of 150ish, I'm pleased. The frag tank didn't have the lighting or flow of the display, so I attribute the loss to this. |
