Green Bubble Algae
I have Green Bubble Algae in my tank..what is it?
what can i do to get rid of it/ and control it? |

Green Bubble Algae - Valonia. Perhaps the largest single celled organism in the world.
If you are only experiencing a small outbreak it is in your best interest to manually remove the bubbles. Be careful not to rupture the bubbles. If the outbreak is large you may be forced to pull your liverock and start scraping. To Control: You need to keep your nutrients going in and out in balance. Regular water changes, Good skimming regime, removal of detritus build-up from rocks / substrate. Do not overfeed. Have a decent amount of tank flow. Maybe get refugium with chaetomorpha to help use up available nutrients. Good Luck --landlord |

Also, Mithraculus crabs consume bubble algae.
