Paintbrush Coral? What is this?

Hubby and I were at a LFS today and saw this coral named "Paintbrush Coral" It looked like really long grass for saltwater, maybe really long star polyps or hair algae gone crazy long.
We were amazed by it and the rock sold for $35.
We didn't get it, but we are interested in it, so we went online to find out more about it, and haven't come up with anything.
Has anyone ever heard of it before? Is there a different name for this?
Thanks!

Yes, Penicillus is an algae, not a coral.
