Hiya Randy - pH

Hi Randy,

After keeping some windows open, I see the pH has stayed a bit higher. However, I have been noticing a usual fluctuation in pH ... the drop at night, and back up during day. Usually I'll see it go from around +-8.20 to around 7.90 at night. Still, the other day, the pH was suddenly 8.30, but it came to normal level again.

As long as I don't go above/below the normal range in pH, am I ok? I have a pinpoint pH monitor always on. Do you recommend a good way of making sure my pH is staying within the proper range on a regular basis?

Thanks

Yes, I don't worry about the fluctuation as much as staying within a reasonable range. pH 7.9 to 8.3, as you have, seems OK to me.

Higher alkalinity will reduce the swing, as will more aeration.
