Ph, way high...

Randy,

Could you please give me a suggestion or two on how to get my Ph down.

I have checked it several times with a Red Sea test kit nd it reads past the max reading of 8.6. My Octopus 3000 tels me that it is going from 8.9 to 9.1.

My calcium reactor is putting out an effluent of 6.4.

I am at my wits end.

I stil do have several fish that seem to be doing o.k. and I have had a few die in the last 2 weeks.

parameters...

Ph 8.8 - 9.1
Temp 76 - 80
ORP 320 - 370
Calcium 460
nitrite 0
nitrate 0
alk 3.2
ammonia have not tested.

thanks,

Jimmy

If you are not using limewater (kalkwasser) or high pH two part additives, the pH measurement is almost certainly in error. I'd try another kit.

Have you recently calibrated the pH meter?

You might confirm its proper operation in borax:
