OK, it is a 6ft x 4 ft setup.

Partitioned into 3 2x4 sections.

Plumbing is all gravity from my 240 reef upstairs so no pumps, or heaters! YEAH!!

I grow out captive rose anemones, sps frags, lots of xenia and a variety of leathers.

I use 2 400 watt bulbs over the whole tank.

This has to be one of the most ghetto prop setups.

Its only been up for like 2 weeks. All that's in there is shrooms, rics, zoa's, and some plant. It has two 75watt pc LOA bulbs.

Combo fuge and frag tank.
45 gallons, outrigger to main tank with common sump.
2 x 250W MHs on reverse daylight cycle.
Mostly used for growing out break-offs or trimmed frags, also for acclimatizing / growing on new frags to the system.

Mine:
Which I soon to be converted into the single 75G tank on the right. Mostly softies and used as a display in my new house. After which I'm going to be building a huge shed behind my house and starting over.

sharkdude,

Where did you get that container? I've been looking for one of those. I've seen stores cure liverock in them, but I could never figure out where they bought them.

Mark,
some info on this thread
http://archive.reefcentral.com/forum...&highlight=vat

I bought one used from a LFS and another I got from a seafood dealer friend (they use them to truck iced squid and sardines).

ask the lfs where you saw them.

Do you have any info on how you made your plywood prop tank? I have been wondering how to get prop tanks the way I want them, and making my own plywood tanks just might be the answer.

He's got a thread around here somewhere. It's a cool tank.

I'll tell you what though, for the price of plywood and the depth we're all going after. You've got to consider those 50G rubbermaids, I've been able to get price quotes as cheap as $55.

I had a chance to visit a place called Roozen's just outside Baltimore last saturday, and a few of their setups use a wood framed sump lined with the rubber pond liner in a green house.

They had display tanks on two centralized sumps like this and they also had live rock curing bins that are essentially above ground wood framed ponds.

A new system they are building, has a custom 600 gal 1-1.5 foot deep acrylic tank on a 4x4 timber stand over a partially buried 1000 gal sump, that is lined by rubber pond liner.

I was concerned about the liner resistance to saltwater but they said no problems. Definately use the higher grade epdm rubber and not the chaepy pvc liners at home depot.

Where did you find the rubber maid containers at?

try a feed supply place, they use for horse and cattle water troughs.
or online at rubbermaid site they have a dealer search function or I think you can order but better if you can find someplace local that stocks or will order for you.

go to http://yp.yahoo.com and search for seed stores. Ask them the best places to buy if they don't have them. I was asking them about ordering as many as 10 or 15 at one time. Normally they're around $65 to $75 I think.

The tank is made out of 3/4" exterior grade plywood. I used liquid nails and stainless steal deck screws. I built an oveflow into the corner. It was then painted with 2 part epoxy paint - 3 times. I believe it is called Glidden Bar Rust paint. Last, I sealed it with silicone, which I don't believe is doing anything. The epoxy should completely seal it. There is alot of info on plywood tanks in the DIY forum and at www.garf.org
Here is apic of the overflow:
