I was just reading an article on one of the online salt water magazine and the stated that 6500k bulbs were optimum for growth. They don't look as nice (they have a yellowish appearance) but for growth purposes, they are the best....

I'll try and find the link to the article...

I'm going to be doing a prop setup sometime soon and I'm going w/ semi-shallow rubbermaid containers and 6500k bulbs. My 10 gallon prop w/ xenia is exploding and I want to start getting into other types of corals....

go with as many vho's as you can fit, ie 4 x 36 inch 96w or 4 x 24 inch 75 w. Use at least one actinic for esthetics purposes (if its also your display tank) and then the rest 6500k (is that the URI aquasuns these days?)

some zoos and ricordias can capture food directly (ie cyclopeze, golden pearls, rotifers, brine shrimp, etc)

underskim or no skimmer if no fish.

I plan to experiment with 4 x 4 foot flourescents 6500k, overdriving them on an icecap 660 on a garage prop system.
