Hypo Salinity
Okay, so I've read different opinions and information. So now I'm more confused. I have never done or tried this.. so let's get a good talk/debate going.
I want to know what you do personally. Not what you've read, only personal experience. 1. What SG do you run at in QT? 2. How slowly do you drop the salinity for to reach it? 3. How long do you keep salinity low? 4. What temps do you run at? 5. What do you place into the tank in QT? LR? 6. How fast do you bring salinity back up? 7. How has your success been after doing hypo salinity? Have you encounted ich since? Thanks and again I'm looking for personal experience.. not what you've read.. i've done that. =) |

Thank you Freed. That is all that I have read, but it's good to hear someone that has done it and it worked. How long have you been ich free after hypo?

Freed, just curious if you use biological filtration in hypo, or just rely strictly on water changes? If you do use filtration, how do you implement it?

Skimmer and Eheim canister filter with sponges only. Water changes rarely and top off with RO/DI a couple times a day.

I've done hypo in my qt and main tank. Have been ick free for around a year now. Always for 6weeks. I take two days to drop to .009 and 4 days to raise the sg back up. I've never lost a fish to ick.
