I like my typhoon for a 50 gallon or less. If works well for what it is and is built like a tank. Is it great....no, but better than the vast majority of the HOBs available.
For anything above a 50 gallon, and if I had the money for below a 50 gallon I would get either the Tunze 9010, it does go inside the tank, and it may not fit under all canopies, but it works great. For an actual HOB I would get the Bermuda rouge wave.

My take on hob's ime. The Rogue is at the top, the only flaw with it is the pump hang's in the tank. Its good for a 125g or less. The MCE600, nice skimmer, overpriced like all deltec's good for a 75g or less. Octo hot's 55g or less, good price. Turbofloater multi, 55g or less. Bakpak (new pump) 45g or less. Remora...........0g or less! Don't feel like mentioning every hot skimmer out there.

I had a remora, no real issues. However, it's nothing compared to my euro reef in sump skimmer.

I have Tunze 9010 for my 54g Corner tank.

Can you see the Tunze's Skimmer?

Yes, you can see the skimmer in the back with collect cup above the tank.

Not so tall, just under 4 inches tall.

luke, we will see how the mce will do on larger systems. it will be tested on the new 90 with an extremely heavy bioload. ~20 fish + SPS.
