That does it Chris, I'm sending the posse after you. I damn near fell out of my chair. Between you and berlinmethod I can't take it anymore. I'll be taking out a 2nd mtg. now to try and catch up with everyone.

BTW, I just bought a dremel and am going to frag a blasto this weekend. Should I use a Diamond cutting wheel or will the normal weels work?

Marlo,
Outside! It's 40 degrees out, here in Buffalo. I've always fragged them inside. I know to keep the spitting juices and dust away from my face, but I get caught up in fragging, and have to turn the piece to get the right cuts. Every so often I would turn while cutting, and get blasted in the face.

Jus Reefin,
You can use either wheel for cutting, but the diamond wheel cuts through better. The less time it takes, the less stress on the animal.

Thats not a 1/3rd of the collection =).

I would say use the diamond, much tougher and cuts easier I think.

That's what I thought. Not spectacular color, but might be worth buying. Thanks, Chris!

well...acan species dont arrive here every week or month...Only the Swami or the "West Coast" Acan guy put out their magic wand once a while to bring few in...Echinata is also a quite slow growing species, not like the LORDs that can grow exponentially by constanly eating "meat"...It is a pretty brain coral though..But the demand and supply rule once again commands this Acan market...

We are like on page 900 of this thread and you're still spelling it like that?! You don't deserve the lords.

Looks like Anthony has some nice corals for sale.
I like that he describes Favites and Favias as
"Puffs up like Acanthastrea"

Anthony's a savvy business man . Everyone wants a piece of the 'fad coral of the day' pie.

Someone will get a great coral for $450+. It's not that I couldn't afford that, it's that I could get 5+ beautiful corals for the price of that single piece. On top of that, it doesn't make good financial sense to spend that kind of money on a single coral when you could put it in your tank and see it die in a matter of days, with not a single thing you could do about it (except cry of course).

There's nothing wrong with having a fetish for a certain species of coral (same for any hobby - that's just the way it works). From a reef hobbyists's point of view though, the most beautiful reef tanks IMO do not contain all the same corals (and the 'all SPS' comment will come up but there is a ton of different shapes, sizes and colors within the large SPS family so not quite the same).

Ah well I digress. Back to work .

love you too brham...lol btw..where were you on wednsday at PAF for that piece they have there..? I thought you were going to be there and offer $250 for that piece there that is 1/4 of my size..

i totally agree with Jeff on the fad coral issue..the wholesalers are charging unbelivable price on these pieces..If you think my starting bid is high. the truth is that i am making a lot less on that coral then you think..I just love it when a person doesn't know anything would make comments like that..either they are jealous that they can't afford it or can't get it..or just being ignorant..
