Name for red macro I saw today?

Went to an LFS I don't usually frequent today and they had some red (really a deep maroon) branching feather shaped macro growing from a 4"rock for $22.

Was tempted because it was so pretty.

Does it sound familiar to anyone? I wasn't sure of the identity of it. Any clues would be great .

Thanks!

EDIT: It looked a little like this, if it grew taller and began to branch:

jor, no disrespect meant, but I don't think that is a Dasya sp. (I *have* ordered from them before, and they are great.)

I'm guessing it is good old "red feather caulerpa"....Haliptilon sp.

The experts will probably come up with a species name, or tell me I'm totally wrong

Anyway HTH,

I'm no expert, but I do know that identifying a red macroalga can be pretty hard even with a picture, so just a general description pretty much makes it not even worth guessing. I can tell you that it is probably a beautiful addition to your tank. If this is a reef tank, there are a few species of red algae that could start to compete with corals, but I wouldn't worry about it growing too extensively.
