S. guttatus, originally collected in Papua New Guniea. I almost never waste my time trying to ID corals, but that one is a pretty sure shot.

Dustin, why is there not a list of all available frags with pictures somewhere?
Thanks, Todd |

This is my favorite ORA frag for the time being although I still love my torts.
Purple Pillow, small, but cool!

I carefully drill 1/2" holes in my LR to drop the 1/2" plugs into, let them encrust from there. All 3 of mine are done that way.

I usually cut the plug off and then glue or epoxy all of my ORA frags directly to my rockwork.

Found this ORA Acro at the LFS a couple months ago.I cut the plug off and mounted it to the LR.Any idea as to what kind it is?

Yes, that the Chips acro. It is green from ORA or if grown without actinics but with normal reef tank lighting it will get purple tips and go tri color.

Well, yes that is true but if you look at the other pics of the corals here in this thread that ORA calls Marshall Island and compare them to the Chips I think you'll see two clear cut different acros.
Let me know what you think. I have a Marshall Island from ORA but mine is a brown out (cheap) and so it has no color at this time.

Dunno, doesn't really look like a chips to me. Here is my chip's acro to compare it to. The chips acro doesn't really have the same polyp extension on the tips as the frag in question.
The polyp extension kind of resembles a bottle brush, just the color is waaayyyyy off. Honestly I don't know if it is any of the three mentioned, the chip's, marshall island or the bottle brush. Now that ORA is kind of coming back together I believe they have some different corals. Plus there are a bunch of different strains of marshall island frags. Most likely it is some type of MI frag though. Just a guess.

I see what you mean. But, I have a couple different Chips and one I got as a brown out from Logical Reef a few months ago and the polyps are extending like the frag in question and the color matches too. I have it in my frag tank with no actinics on it. I think it could be enviromental. The purple pillow looks different from tank to tank.
Maybe Dustin can give us an answer on this.

I have a friend that has a pretty big one. That's where I got my frag but it's not a fast grower for me. Another friend got a frag at the same time I did and his is growing faster but I like the color of mine more. His isn't really purple. I guess over time I'll be able to show you some growth shots. I have a pink ORA milli that grows really fast.

My purple pillow frag is a pretty slow grower but I do have it at the bottom of a 30" tall tank. Mine is mostly green with a purple tip. I think they go more purple as the grow up.

My frag turned purple right away, but the colony I got it from is mostly green. I have mine really high in the water column but my halides are only 175w. You can see the pic of it I posted in this thread. Very cool coral.

I think my pillow is a "Junior Colony" now, same with Chips and Tort. Took about 9 months.
