Hello everyonnnnne. I love vacation. I really do. Just got back from fishing, was good. Two bluefish, decent sized. They should prove to be tasty. Brunch at Castle Hill in about an hour, and I'll have all my fun vacation pictures on Thursday. I took some neat macro shots.

Anyways, I'm very scared for my tank. I taught my mom how to use a refractometer, so that she could do my topoff (looking into an autotopoff system). All she has to do is turn on the RODI for 30mins when the salinity reaches 1.026. Anyways, I gave her a training session, and she knew how to do it all and everything. I get a call last night, "Honey, the tank hasn't changed salinity in 3 days, I'm assuming that's a good thing? I've checked everyday like you said. Oh yeah, I'm in New York right now until Monday. What? No, I didn't lower the sg to 1.024 before I left like you said. It hasn't changed!"

Adios for now, as I attempt to relax.

I wouldn't say Sun Corals need high lighting... but they need intense feeding. Like every other day they need brine or mysis. IT is a big upkeep..... but they do look nice.

sun corals to need light, they are cave corals and dont have zooxanthallae. they need to be fed things like mysis and brine frequently.

Well is 24wats 50/50 is enough, feeding livestock with Prime Reef and ZooPlankton. I mix in a salt water cup, stir and feed 2tsp. daily at night.

I did a lot of thinking a finding information, one thing I'm confused are the lighting, some said "it doesn't much because the mostly wake up at night or dark area." On the other hand some said "the need high lighting." So confuse...

At Liveaquaria.com, they said that it needs low lighting. As for water flow, medium to strong, that's perfect, I upgrade my nano pump from 106 to 295ghp. Also in Live... it saids that it needs enrich food like brine shrimp and microplankton, so basically I just need to feed more often to my tank then normal rate. Prime reef has a lot nutriens in their pack, the has alot of variety of meat containing, algae also, then again, I'm also feeding my tank with BioPankton. I think those two meal would be perfect for it.

In marinedepotlive.com, it's pretty said the same thing, low lighting, waking up in dark time. So I guess I know my stuff about it.

Sun corals open when they detect the presence of food (which in the wild is usually at night), or if they have been trained to feed at a specific time. Being a LPS, they need decent calcium levels for growth. They prefer larger, meatier foods that can be caught and ingested with their tentacles, such as mysis. In a tank of your size, I would be very wary of water quality, since they do need a lot of feeding to survive.

Good idea, but you are still adding the food to your tank, whether directly or indirectly via the coral...if that makes sense.
