Starting Fresh! Dial up beware!
OK, i had some high nitrates after battling a strong attack of HA. I finally have tank back in order, but only after losing several things to the HA battle and high nitrates.
A litte about my tank. I have a 92 gallon corner tank. I am currently running 2 250 watt SE XM 10k halides with 90 watt VHO actinic supplementing them. I have just today installed 2 64K T5's into the hood to start the process of creating a full light cycle throughout the day. My equipment is a ASM G1x for a skimmer...I am going to do a gate valve mod soon.... I have a MRC C-1 co2 reactor, which i am still learning daily..... I am running all this behind a wall near the tank..I have a 55 gallon sump/fuge which is falling apart on me, at least the baffles...lesson learned... I am in the process of working on a 75 gallon tank to use instead of the 55 gallon. I have installed two of the 1" bulkhhead fittings. I am waiting for my 1 1/2" bulkhead to come in, i figure itll be here after Xmas. I have 30mini (Chris) building me a light controller to help control my lights throughout day and night. Well...i guess ill post the pictures now...ive blabbed enough.. Full tank w/o lights Full tank shot with light on! Mangroves New 75 gallon sump/ fuge build

Hey man, glad to see you are plugging away at it and not giving up. You're a true reef nerd! It looks like you're heading down the right path this time around.

Deansreef, I actually do have one, had to remove it because the small pump was leaking electricity into my tank, waiting for new pump to come in!

what size drain do you have? I think 1inch is rated around 600gph?
Looking good, im sure your loving the extra room from moving the stuff out from under the stand! |

Kurt,
My drain line is i think the same....im running 1" so probably the same one...i then plan to dial back the dart so there is enough gph going through the three outlets...one through normal and the other two will be going out the seaswirls!

Your going to need more overflow if you want to notice any water coming out. 600gph split between 3 outlets wont give you much. Do you have a return going up through your overflow? You could turn this into a drain also so you can get more draining capacity. But the return is prob 3/4 and wouldnt give you much more. Also you will end up with a pretty hefty flow through your sump. You only need around 600-1200 through your sump max. Of course if you have enough of the pump running reactors/fuge etc it would work. Have you thought about making the dart a closed loop? since drilling is pretty much out of the question how about something like this. http://www.melevsreef.com/closedloop.html
Might even be able to put the intake inside your overflow to hide it. If not just paint it black with krylon fusion and it shouldn't be to much of a eyesore. |
