Foxface Lo
I was thinking of adding a Foxface Lo to my aquarium. I have been
doing a lot of research - sounds like a peaceful addition with the added benefit of algae eating - I am concerned about the venomous spine both for myself and his tank mates. Any thoughts please...Thank you |

I have a foxface in my tank and he is very well behaved. I too was worried at first about the spines, but honestly anytime I'm in the tank he always goes to the other end of the tank. The biggest concern I would have would be mainly the size of your tank, it's a 75, which seems small to house 2 tangs and a foxface.

Thanks very much for the info everyone...and scubajsm I agree - we are planning an upgrade to a 150 gal this summer, I think I will wait until then. Sounds like a good addition though!

I love my foxface. Very well behaved, docile and will eat from my hand. Just don't spook him and always know where he is and you will be fine. And don't get freaked out when he changes color and gets this weird pattern. Totally normal. Mine also loves to go to the surface and blow bubbles out of his gills. From what I've read also normal behavior. There a neat fish.

Mine gets picked on all the time, never stings anything. At first, I had the same worries, but it is now my favorite fish. by, the way, say good by to algae!

The spine is use as a defense mechanism, not a weapon. Like SaltyDr. described they are a very docile fish.
