Multiple Butterflyfish
Well, I'm looking over my 90 gallon stocklist once more.
I currently have: 1 Cleaner Shrimp 1 Falcula Butterflyfish 2 Firefish 2 Ocellaris Clownfish But I want to get rid of the Clownfish. I was wondering if it would be possible for me to add another Butterflyfish to my aquarium? They're my favourite and I would add another one over any Dwarf Angelfish. Thanks, Michael |

falfulas can be a little on the aggressive side. What kind of butterfly do you want?

Falculas can be agressive, but if you give a dark period you should be ok. If it is more than about 3 inches you may have a lbigger problem. Some good ones: Auriga, Red Sea Pearlscale (above), Saddle Back, Golden (requires a little more experience), Declivis, Burgess, Raccoon, Pyramid (way underrated), Collare (more experience required), Merten's.
Thats just a few. Be forwarned, all except the Pyramid and Declivis will sample anything and everything. I have at one time had all of those in a reef tank without a tremendous amount of damage. |

auriga's and raccoon's are great fish. Just about as easy as butterflies get. Copperbands are not hardy fish.

Golden Butterfly
I recommend them as long as you don't have any coral and I see your tank is FOWLR. Once I got them to start eating on frozen mysis and Emeral Menu then I relize how fast they are compare to my Powder blue tang in strong flow.

|
declives are not reef safe. They will munch on any LPS and clams! but are bullet proof once acclimated. Very hardy butterlfy (along with tinkers)

I LOVE the Golden Butterfly but worry that it will grow too large for a 90 gallon, that I won't be able to find one and that it may look too similar to my current Falcula.
Would the Raccoon/ Auriga be fine with the Falcula then, or are they too similar? |

IME, they are very similar looking, and may very well fight. How about a saddleback, or collare...something that's not yellow/white/black like the facula....

I would love to see a picture of a Declivis Butterfly, can anyone help me with that? Do they have a more common name, how about their scientific name? anyone?
I love Butterflies, I just got two Auriga's and want to add one more ( I no longer have any corals in my 125. I really want to get another one (different) to the take once these two have proven healthy themselves and settle in.....
