Scary morning today!

Got back from SAT IIs(math 2 = ), to find my fish all gasping for air and in horribly rough condition. I found that the lid had fallen onto the water surface overnight, resulting in absolutely no gas exchange. Needless to say, after an hour session with an airstone, they are fine now.

I don't undersatnd because I have had previous tanks with full glass lids (no gas exchange really) and they were all fine.

I think Corto means that the glass lid was on the water.

So then the what, the 2 inches between glass and water is enough to have for the fish?

I am worried because I am almost done with the canopy for my 12 gallon and I need to have a solid lid over tank.

I say no to that because mine has killed two Hector's gobies and a fairy wrasse. But then again, it's all a matter of opinion.

Hector's Goby (Amblygobius hectori). I've got two of them and they sift sand and pick at algae, too. See liveaquaria.com/product/prod_Display.cfm?pCatId=176 for a pic. Its coloration is black with yellow stripes. Tip: don't put two of them together in a small tank, they're pretty territorial.

I do tons of reaserch before buying anything, and this was no exception. Through the process I have found that reefkeeping is a whole heck of a lot more complicated than anything I could have imagined

They were very territorial for a while but after a while there were only minor squabbles.
