LOL Amanda!! That picture was me in my more wild years . I can't wait for us to get our tanks set up!

Very true Amy! This is a wonderful hobby.

BTW, do you have a full picture of your tank? I know I keep bugging you, but your camera takes amazing pictures, and I know you must have an oustanding tank! Thanks.

Wow, we are already on page 5 and have no tanks, no horses and no pictures. How did we get this far already?

Ack, my one photo failing. A good friend who has excellent photography skills came over last week and took some whole tank shots. Let me see if I can have them sent my way. I'm sure they came out well.

Now, to get a good hosting site or a darn website up and I am set! Otherwise I'll just mail them to you too.

I exceeded the bandwidth allowed and they won't let me link for a month now. Otherwise a good site I have used for well over a year now.

I am looking into them, but at this point I might as well pay for a site. A friend mentioned some site that for $90 a year you get 80megs of space. That might be my ticket.

I just use tripod.com for my website, it is only 8.95 a month and I get 50mb of disk space and 10 giga byte bandwidth a month.

nodoubt471, If I add a pair of H. Erectus into my tank, they are bound to spawn, so i need to be ready to help out the babies! I have another spare 20 gallon (long), 10 gallon, and 5 gallon tanks, so I think I will be able to rig something up when the time comes.

thats gotta be like the most interesting part of having seahorses- watching them breed, and the male carrying the babies... im so jealous...

sounds like your gonna have a little breeding farm going on there!! do you know how many babies they have per spawn on average?

Not sure how many they can have, but I know it's a lot!!

I just read somewhere that it is a big mistake to put CB horses in a tank with WC fish because of various diseases they are not accustomed to...I hope this is not a problem. I guess it's time for another post in the Seahorse forum!

Well, I found out some more news (good and bad)

Good: I can keep my sun coral in the same tank as the horses. I can also keep X-Mas tree rocks in there as well (big yay--I've been wanting one for awhile).

Bad: It is not a good idea to keep CB horses with WC pipes or other fish, due to differences in immune systems. Also, clams are a bad idea in seahorse tanks because the clam can close on their tail which will often result in a bacterial infection of some sort.

Despite these changes to my plans, I still want seahorses!! I'll just buy CB fish, and I guess pipefish won't be an option in this tank. One or the other...

I'm not really worried about a 1 inch clam clsing on a 6 inch horse to be honest, and besides, my neon gobies sit all over my clams and have never been closed on. Also, not all clams can close all the way anyway. The only clam in my tank that can even close all the way is my derasa. My gigas, squamosa and maximas will close, but none at tight at the derasa.

Yeah, I found that one hard to believe as well. But I have plenty of space in my 46 for any more clams, especially if I'm going to be moving some of the corals to the 20.

I do not know what the life span of a seahorse is. In fact, I won't be purchasing anything(except the tank, sand and liverock) Until I have read at least 3 books, front to back twice, on seahorses and pipes until I can identify most species in the trade. Since these creatures are so delicate, I'm not going in blind. I'm not in a hurry and I WILL do this right the first time! (At least, I plan to)!!
