It sounds like fun. i went to the one in Baltimore 5-6 years ago. that was where i first met Dr. Mac and the nice people from Garf, Leroy and Sally Jo, and Bob Goemans. I attended all their lectures, and bought some nice frags. Its a fun event and i'm sure it's getting even better.

And Hey! i see one of our part time past members, Sarah has been asked to be a speaker. Congratulations Sarah, that's a fine honor in recognition of your hard work and study. Yous guys will have to be sure and catch her presentation.

But that's a long way off for me to consider right now. I'll let you know. It's only about a 5 or 6 hour ride.

i think we are going to buy tickets while they are still cheap. and i did Sarah was going to speak but the 5 hour drive im not into. i did that drive about 2 or 3 years ago and it was quite boring. i think we are going to look into a commuter flight out of either Wilmington or Philly. i haven't looked but i bet we could get round trip for $150 or so. to drive there would cost at least $75 plus tolls

Yup, it's mostly I-76. I've driven that route way too many time in the past. It's my way home back to the old country, Cleveland!! but not bad. It's a spine tingling, white knuckle ride, racing with the truckers through the western Pennsylvania hills and mountains, on the interstate.

Man, Ken you make that ride sound exciting. I'm usually trying not to fall asleep!! I'd love to go, but I won't be buying tickets until I know where I'm going to be living in September. Hopefully I'll know something by new year's.
Went to IMAC in 04 and I've been kind of disappointed that they haven't changed their venue since. Would definately like to check out MACNA instead. Maybe we can get a group together.

Well,, It might be a sign I'm just getting old. But that's coming from a guy like me, who has routinely driven 3000 miles coast to coast, alone, and never turned on the radio or stereo. It distracts me from the whistle of the wind, the thump of the road, the passing countryside and of course, my ......thawts..?...

But then, again, I get excited just watching corals grow. I like to think of it as a Zen thing....??

Hmm? a group trip might be a possible idea! I wonder how many people would be interested?

We could keep this balloon in the air by interested members, like we used to do at the 60's concerts.

Boing! Your turn!!

Ken you are crazy! I am always frantically messing with the dial on my radio and cd player when i'm driving around my territory. I even get antsy in my chevelle where I only have am radio and one speaker, the 327 can only sooth you for a couple of hours lol.

Drive, hitch hike, walk... however I can. (actually haven't really figure out that part yet) I will probably make a large road trip out of it. I've been tempted to buy a second ticket so I know I won't be going alone, but I'm a bit broke and I am not sure who would go with me a year from now.
I'll definitely let you know my plans when it gets closer.(I say that now, but can I remember a year from now?)

Or some of us could car pool in my decrepid old rusting hulk of an 87 burban.(with shorted out radio speakers) but you all will have to sit lotus position enveloped by the cone of silence,( for those who remember agent Maxwell Smart and the Chief) so that i can contemplate my naval and the pastoral wonders of drive.

Or Knot!

or some other variation.... it sounds like a good trip!!

save a reef, car pool!

BOING!!

if anyone's interested in flying out

http://www.expedia.com/pub/agent.dll...1166546048071&

i found better prices on Orbits but it wouldn't let me link it(hence the smiley above). prices start around $140, you can get a flight for $99 but you have to fly to Cleveland, wait an hour and a half then get on another plane.

Southwest Airlines has labeled Pittsburgh a "Featured Destination" which makes some flights to MACNA pretty cheap right now.

Be sure to purchase your tickets to MACNA 19 before the end of the month to beat the price increase.

Sorry to bring a thread from the dead sorta. But i'm just excited because I got a call from my zone manager today and she said that I have been selected to attend MACNA this year. She said that she got a call from higher on up saying they needed the two geekiest fish nerds from the east coast team and I guess i'm dorky enough...guess sometimes its good to be a geek! See you there guys!

I just wanted to let you all know that the Radisson is full. The overflow hotels are the Holiday Inn (412-372-1022 ext. 656) and the Hampton Inn (412-380-4000). Just tell them you are coming for MACNA.
