Cat deterant

I have a cat who has issues. Due to medical reasons, she will pee in her sleep. (It's not a urinary infection either, it's just when she sleeps) She does use the litter box when she is away. I need a spray to keep her off the furniture. Will the bitter apple stuff I have seen people recommend for thier dogs work for cats also?

That's really only for preventing them from chewing on stuff. Not sure how to solve this one.

Basically I just want to spray something on the furniture so she won't want to sleep on it. I'm tired of having my couch and love seat covered with blankets all the time.

You can buy deterents to spray on furniture that they don't like the smell. The only problem is that you may not like the smell either.

My first thought was get a dog and have him sleep on the couch.

Reminded me of when I was a kid, we trained our dogs that whenever they heard the cats scratching on the furniture, they had free reign to chase them. As soon as claws hit cloth, the dogs would jump up, bark, and chase the cats until the cat sfound somewhere to hide. The dogs would then happily come back to us for praise.

A scat mat is your best bet. It's a mat that gives a static shock when they jump on it. Another option is one that is very pointy and uncomfortable for them to step on. There are things out there that have an "eye" and when the cat passes in front of it it lets out a blast of noise. Lemme see if I can find some links for you...

no problem! Hope one works for you! (otherwise there is always the idea of a shower curtain slipcover! )

He sleeps up by the window sill so he can look outside

You can try aluminum foil too. Cats hate it.
