My own dog thread
Might as well go to the dark side and post puppy pics
First up is my dog, Molly, a German Short-haired pointer. In this photo, she is the one facing the camera. We've had for almost 15mths now and she's one smart cookie. Her commands are sit, down, spin, bow, talk and wiggle (flap her ears). Second up is Tyson, another GSP I am fostering for the rescue group we got Molly from. He was a kill shelter in Huntsville, Texas and was an owner surrender (he was not feeding or watering Tyson and leaving him outside in Texas heat ) Tyson knows sit, down, spin and is picking up roll over. Third up is a dog I got today from the local animal shelter. They are needing people to foster dogs so they can make room for Katrina animals. I'll have this guy for a few weeks atleast. He doesn't have a name so I need to figure out what to call him. Any ideas?? From his long snout, I'm guessing either collie mix or german sheperd but who knows. I can tell he's got to grow a bit more, he just looks like a lanky kid who will trip over his feet any time now He may look small but I'd say he's about 40-50 lbs. Ok Dino - here's my doggie post |

Welcome to the dog side...
Your GSP's are beautiful! You do any hunting with them or are they just house dogs? I know there is a few of the sprint dogsledding teams that run full teams of GSP. The new guy has a similiar body to my uncle's GSD/ lab mix but with a totally different head. I'm not great at guessing breeds yet , so I'll stay out of that! And I like Snuffy! Looks like he's fitting right in and having fun. If I was down there I would foster but I know it would be hard because some point in time I would have to give it up!

Wow! That muzzle goes on for miles!! The very first name that popped in my head when I saw him was Merlin but I like Snuffy too! How does Molly handle all the fosters coming and going?

Well so far I have been trying to not get to attached to them. We currently do not hunt with Molly since she is way gunshy and I have no idea about Tyson. The next GSP we get will be a proven hunter or a younger dog we can work with. The way I look at fostering is I can have a new dog every few months and I think that would be cool. So far Molly is fine with the new dogs. When we first brought Tyson in, she had a little food aggression which is ununual for GSPs but a few spankings and she was right as rain. She even shared the water bowl with the new guy within 5 mins of him being in the backyard.
I told my husband we'd have to come up with a name since I"m not going to call him doggie for the next several weeks His reply was, he'll tell us his name. |
