bucket or sump or another bucket

i have my 75 starting... letting it simmer for a while..

im tempted to put some araganite er what ever its called in the sump area... for bugs

i have a drilled 5gal bucket that my skimmer sits in, keeps the water at a fixed height... the skimmer pump is several inchs off the bottom of the bucket..

im tempted to put the araga in that skimmer bucket...

not all the water that goes in the skimmer bucket gets skimmed, and the bucket drains to the sump sorta separate from the skimmer...

i dont think i would skim to many pods that way...

im also tempted to just put the araga in the sump, sorta willy nilly.. this is all after the skimmer, no skimmed bugs. but less pretty , less contained.

i could add another bucket with out dedicated water flow, just drift water, to the sump and put the araga in it. if i did this i would also end up going full 5gal fuge i think, add a 6.5k grow light and some weeds...

i would by default just jump on the last option but im a tight wad , and dont really want more watts in the picture... not to mention increasing evaporation... and eating up limited sump room.

i am leading toward araga over sand in general, but both is an option...

so do i skim for pods, do it right (ya i know , do it right) and give it its own fuge-tainer , or just go willy nilly.

if i do add another container, for fuging. should i put a hole or 2 on the bottom for extra water access? or just let ii in and out at the top of the rubble.

If I were you, I would go BUY 1/4" acrylic sheet. With that sheet build two custom fit sumps at least 36" long (the second is for me). Dividers in the sump will separate your fuge from your drain/skimmer area, and your return area. Let me know when you get those finished and I'll drop by and pick mine up.

Just a thought. Trying to help. I guess you could buy 2 30gal tanks and glue baffles in. I'll come pick up the second one. (You see where I am going with this??)

Here you go, forgive the sait creep. It's a 2.5gal acrylic tank. A maxi jet 250 pushes water in at one side, drilled a hole and glued a 1 1/4 inch drain tube for output.

Don't you have a 2.5 gallon acrylic tank?? That looks like a good idea.
