Feeding non-photosynthetic octocorals

I've seen many questions from those of you who got them from the group buy so here are some pointers. The Diogorgonians have had a bad rap as far as survival until recently, the availability and quality of foods is so much better then even just a few years ago.

They feed on any type of small particle food, I feed mine, frozen cyclops, coral frenzy (powdered food) and cyclopeez. Anything like that or baby brine should be perfect. They can be closed for several weeks without harm, they expend very little energy. I offer mine food every day and I can actually see them capture the frozen cyclops. The other foods I can't actually see them capture but they open and close when it is in the water.

You can tell if they are getting enough food by touching them, if they feel gritty (like a grain of sand between your fingers), they aren't getting enough or the right size foods. This takes time to happen so after they have been in your tank for months and are opening regularly you can judge if they are feeding well.

Good luck
